Sun Pharmaceuticals, Inc. was founded in 2003 in the greater San Diego area (inside a garage). The company made a revolutionary break through in two fields in 2004. The 1st generation CoDOPA (Co Depolymerization of Organic Polymers Agent) and its application as the catalysts for CoDOP hydrolysis (CoDOP: Catalytic One-pot Hydrolytic Depolymerization of All Natural Organic Polymers). With CoDOPA as the catalyst, all natural organic polymers are hydrolyzed quantitatively into small organic molecules in a one-pot reaction. We named this method "CoDOP" technology. Another breakthrough is in healthcare. In ancient civilizations such as China, Egypt, India, and Greece, it was discovered that an almighty balance exists in all living beings--a Yin-Yang Balance. People would become uncomfortable or ill if this internal balance is broken. This Yin-Yang balance is seen as incredulous by modern society due to the lack of quantitative methods. In Sun Pharmaceuticals, we discovered a potential quantitative method for Yin-Yang Balance.

 

2003, it was discovered that the recombination of gene fragments shows specific selectivity (GFSS). This selectivity has huge potential in synthetic antibodies and  tumor immunotherapy. Sun Pharmaceuticals was founded that year, focusing on the syntheses of unnatural antibody-like molecules for marking tumor cell that can stimulate the cleanup of tumor cells by immunosystem.

 

2004, an unusual result was observed during isolating supersize molecules from wood: all natural organic polymers were quantitatively converted into liquid products in an one-step chemical reaction (CoDOP). We realized the potential of this novel technology immediately. It could open a door to a dream world, a world with all renewable resources. Because annual biomass production is over 100 billion tons, but current annual oil production worldwide is only about 3.9 billion tonnes, and annual coal production worldwide is only about 7.8 billion tons. In order to save money on the development of this CoDOP technology, our company negotiated IP-sharing structure with partners in China.

 

Through IP-sharing, Sino-US Pficker (Huike) Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. was founded in 2014. The first joint venture of Sun Pharmaceuticals focused on the commercialization of  products for manipulating Yin-Yang Balance. During the R&D for the window period for oxidative stress attenuation, two biomarkers were identified as potential candiadtes for wearable product.

 

2006, China Fuel (Huaibei) Bioenergy Technology Development Co., Ltd, another joint venture was founded through IP-sharing. The company completed the first pilot plant of cellulosic ethanol (300 tonnes/year) in China. 2008, CaSH (Catalytic Simultaneous Hydrolysis) biorefining technology (The application of CoDOP in biorefining agricultural residues, shared IP between Sun Pharmaceuticals and Partners in China) completed a continuous pilot plant with capacity of 75 liters/hr. 2010, a continuous operation system of CoDOP technology with annual capacity of 1000 tons of biomass finished the construction. After three years of optimization, 2013, this one thousand ton/year manufacturing DEMO system completed a 300 days continuous operation.

 

Sun Pharmaceuticals, Inc. created a unique business model for technology research and development. Our strengths are creativity and brainpower. Thus, the company decided to develop key commercial technologies by sharing partial intellectual properties. The company now owns 30% intellectual property of "CaSH" biorefining technology, 100% intellectual property of "CoDOPA", and 100% of CoDOP MSW resourcing technology. By using this novel catalytic system, CoDOP hydrolysis produce commercial products in a one-step reaction, and all main products are solid that significantly simplify the separation and purification of all products.  

 

In October of 2014, the company made a decision to seeking for investment to build a DEMO facility for manufacturing the 3rd generation CoDOPA in USA.
